Passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. WILLIAM “Bill” FIELD, of Petrolia, was in his 90th year. Bill was a beloved husband to the late Florence Field (2003) and loved partner to Fran Wellington of Wyoming. Bill will be missed by his children Linda Campbell, John and Debbie Field, Jim Field, Jeff and Susan Field, and Joel and Eva Field. He was a grandfather to Ian and Penny McEachern, Derek and Carrie McEachern, Cody Campbell, Mark and Christine Field, Laura and Mike Lassaline, Tyler Field, and Hannah Field and great grandchildren Mary, Harrison, William, Ryan, Katelyn, Jocelyn, Owen, Lilly, and Jacob. Bill was predeceased by his parents Leonard William and Harriett Field and two sisters Lillian Smith and Connie Laprise. Bill worked for 37 years as a Forester with Ontario Hydro and in his retirement worked at Petrolia Arena and drove school bus. He volunteered in many ways supporting the youth of Petrolia, coaching minor hockey and baseball, serving on the parks and recreation committee, was a founding member of Petrolia Silver Stick, was a past president of minor hockey, and as a charter member of Optimist Club of Petrolia. He was recognized for volunteer spirit from Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame winning the “Bud Morrison Award” and the “Mr. Hockey” award from Petrolia Minor Hockey. Visitors will be received on Thursday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia where a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Hillsdale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Petrolia Minor Hockey Association or C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (www.ceehf.ca).
