Shirley O'Brien
June 25, 1933 - April 1, 2022
At home, in the loving and devoted arms of her husband, Tom, Shirley Eva O’Brien (n. Atkinson) passed peacefully on April 1, 2022, in her 89th year. Our hearts ache with sadness, but our spirits overflow with a lifetime of precious memories. She will be sadly missed by her dear husband, Thomas David O’Brien. Shirley is the cherished mother of Kim (Dorothy) O’Brien, Stacy (Kevin) McFadden, Dale (Monica) O’Brien, Erin (Gary) Pauline, and Shaughn (Jamie) Morton; adored Grandmother of Erick (Karen), Marten (Kim), Evan (Leeanne), Brenna (Soren), Haylee, Katie (François), Whitney, Abbey, Emily, Maura, Kale, Brynn, Nieve and Jan; treasured Great-Grandmother of Michaela, Maeve, Karah, Landry, Marcus, Skylar, Patrick and her latest addition, Addison. Shirley’s great love was family. Her commitment to sharing in holiday celebrations, vacations and milestone events with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in person or with cards and gifts, blessed us with countless memories. Grandma connected with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, near and far, with steady love and genuine caring and interest. She had an important and lasting impact that will live on in each one. Shirley is survived by her brothers and sisters, Tom (Joanne) Atkinson, Bev (Ron) Clark, Sheldon (Julie) Green, Joan O’Brien and Jane Graham, and predeceased by siblings, Dorothy, Don, Harvey, Peggy, Norman (Pete), Hazel, Betty, Blanche and Jean. Shirley will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. A private family service will be held at a later date. Thoughts and prayers are gratefully welcomed by Tom and family. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Bluewater Health Foundation, Oncology.
