Ruby Shortt

December 28, 1935 - October 29, 2020

Peacefully, surrounded by her husband and her daughters on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, Ruby Margueritte Shortt (nee Telfer) passed away at the age of 84. Ruby and Clint were married on July 25, 1953 at Ivan United Church. Ruby was the youngest child of William Arthur Telfer and Mabel Adelaide Stewart. She was the loving mother to Lynda and Ron MacDougall, and Deborah and Wayne Maw. Proud grandmother and great-grandmother to Matthew and Stacey MacDougall and their children Madelyn, Meredith and Myles, the late Katie Lynne MacDougall (1982), Josh and Deanna MacDougall and their children Amelia, Valerie, and Walter, Sarah and Paul Martin and their children Molly and Levi, Meggie MacDougall and her partner Liam Harland, Tarah Maw and her children, Ashlyn, Avery, and Anaston, Trevor Maw and his children Kiera, Isaac and Maelle, Todd and Kayla Maw and their son Owen, and Tyler and Randi Maw and their son Elijah. Survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Leland and Sandy Shortt, and Carol and Bev Boyd. She will be remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Mary Alena and Bert Grover, Stewart Telfer, Murray Telfer, Charlie Telfer and Phyllis Watterworth and brother-in-law, Burton Shortt. Ruby was a teller at the Scotiabank and TD Bank in Petrolia for many years. She enjoyed going to auction sales with Clint and loved to crochet and sew, leaving heartfelt keepsakes to her family. A private funeral service will be streamed online on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Hillsdale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia Lambton.
