Lorne Douglas of Petrolia died peacefully at age 72, surrounded by his family at his home on Monday, March 28, 2022. Lorne leaves behind his wife Mabel (nee Mumby), and his children Craig (Heather) Douglas, Alan Douglas, and Megan (Thomas McDonough) Douglas. Lorne was a proud grandpa to Amber, Kaitlyn, and Jordan. He is also survived by his sisters Winnie and Joyce, as well as many friends from across his many adventures. Lorne was a member of Family Campers and RVers Association for the better part of 25 years as part of the local chapter, the Sarnia 4Ts. Lorne, Mabel and their family spent a lot of time travelling across Canada and the United States and camping with friends and loved ones. Throughout this time he collected many friends, memories and stories that will be treasured for years to come. Lorne was active in both Petrolia-Washington Lodge No. 194 and Hiawatha Chapter Sarnia of the Royal Arch. Lorne truly enjoyed and valued his time in the lodge and the people he met through it. Visitors will be received on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will precede the visitation, held at 5:45 pm. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 11a.m. at Needham-Jay Funeral Home in Petrolia. Interment will follow at Hillsdale Cemetery. For his loved ones from afar this service will be livestreamed at www.Facebook,com/NeedhamJay as well as available for later viewing. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice (www.stjosephshospice.ca) and Victorian Order of Nurses (www.von.ca).
