Peacefully, at Fiddick’s Retirement Home, Petrolia, on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. MARY JANE (MAY) BYERS, (nee Woodward) 85 years, formerly of Camlachie, Oil Springs, Petrolia and Wyoming. Beloved wife of the late Ernest G. Charne (1960) and the late Garnet D. Byers (1981). Loving mother of Robert Woodward of Port Alberni, B.C., Mardi and Don Mathews of Sarnia, Islay and Jamie Heyd of Wallaceburg, David Charne and his wife Mercy Cheres of Guelph, Nancy and Bill Cable of Watford and Maureen and Mike Janssen of Bright. Dear sister of Harry Woodward and the late Barbara, and Ivy and Bill McCulloch all of Port Alberni, Phyllis Smith and the late Bing of Sarnia, and the late Alice Simpson and her husband Glenn of Port Alberni. Also survived by several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mary was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #388 (Wyoming) and the Rebekah Lodge. Visitors were received on Sunday, January 3, 2010, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the WYOMING CHAPEL, Broadway St., Wyoming, where the funeral service was held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mukucha Kathemo officiating. Interment was in Oil Springs Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the March of Dimes, Cancer Research Society or the Alzheimer Society.
