Memorial Jean Victoria McCreary Wednesday, July 14, 1920 - Tuesday, December 08, 2009 MCCREARY; Jean Victoria (nee Mowers), a long time resident of Petrolia Line, Jean passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia, in her 90th year. She was deeply loved by her family and will now be welcomed into heaven by her parents Cleveland and Erie Mowers, her loving husband of 55 years Donald (2001) and cherished daughter Donna Jean (2006). Throughout her life, Jean was always there to encourage and support her beloved family. She was the loving mother of Keith McCreary and his wife Gloria, Carl McCreary and Edward Courtis. Dear sister of Inez MacKenzie and sister-in-law of Marjorie Richmond. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Allison McCreary, Andrea (David) McKnight; Stacey, Kalen (Scott Aldington) and Shane Bartlett; Casey and Conor McCreary; Carey (Roxanne), Corey (Patti) and Cherie Courtis, and great grandchildren Colin, Zoe and Brody Courtis. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Jean was predeceased by her first husband Edward Courtis (1944) and her brothers Frank, Keith and Letson Mowers. She will be forever in the hearts of those who loved her. Before retirement Jean enjoyed teaching at Brooke Central Public School near Alvinston. She was a devoted member of her church, and in earlier years participated in community volunteer work. Visitors will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dr. Robert M. Gibson officiating. A reception will follow at St. Paul’s United Church, Petrolia, followed by the committal service at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. In honour of Jean, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (Pat Mailloux Eye Centre), St. Paul’s United Church Memorial Fund, or the Inn of the Good Shepherd, Sarnia. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Fiddick’s Nursing Home for their compassionate care and kindness.
