Catharine Brix Wednesday, February 16, 1921 - Wednesday, August 26, 2009 On August 26, 2009 at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia CATHARINE BRIX (Sexsmith) (nee Hossie), 88 years, wife of the late Hugo Brix (1984) and Clarence Sexsmith (1959), mother of Elaine (nee Sexsmith) Harris and her husband Allan of Petrolia, step-mother of Bob Brix of Kitchener. Loved grandmother of Susan Bird (Ron) of Staffa, Stacey Williams (Tim) of Petrolia and Trish Harris Tousignant (Monia) of Cromarty. Great-grandmother of Stephen and Andrea Bird, Ashley, Stephanie and Wesley Williams and Emily Harris Tousignant. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Jean Hossie of Orangeville and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brix was predeceased by her parents A. Leonard and Margaret (Steed) Hossie and brothers Douglas, Malcolm, Leonard Hossie and one sister Margaret. A WWII veteran where she was a driving instructor, Catharine was born in Lambton County, moved to Cambridge (Preston) where she spent 40 years then returned to Lambton to be closer to her family. A celebration of Catharine’s life will be held from NEEDHAM JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia on Friday, September 4, 2009 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Sarnia. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations by cheque to St. Paul’s United Church, Petrolia or a charity of your choice.
