Geertje Doornbosch Friday, December 01, 1916 - Sunday, August 30, 2009 With sadness, the family announces the passing of Geertje Doornbosch. The Lord took her home on Sunday, August 30, 2009. She was 92 years of age. She was born in The Netherlands on December 1, 1916. Her husband, Geert, preceded her in death on June 7, 1999. As a young family with three children they immigrated to Canada in July 1948. Three more children were born here. They lived in Campbellford, Marintown, Plympton Township, and finally settled in Forest. In retirement they moved to Wyoming. After Dad’s passing, Mom moved to Forest View Villa Senior Apartments. In July 2006 she moved to North Lambton Lodge. She will be sadly missed by her children; Hilda and Stan Shepherd, John and Dianne Doornbosch, Jeannette and Steve Stellingwerff, Nick and Willie Doornbosch, Bob and Anne Doornbosch, and Hal and Selma Doornbosch. Predeceased by a stillborn son in 1954. Saddened also is a special niece Marie and her husband Harvey Vanderwal. She is survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Geertje was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church. Visitors will be received on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the WYOMING CHAPEL, Broadway St., Wyoming. A funeral service to celebrate Geertje’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at the Wyoming Christian Reformed Church, Wyoming. Rev. Paul Droogers officiating. Interment in Beechwood Cemetery, Forest. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made by cheque to the Ladies Auxiliary at the North Lambton Lodge, Contact House, Forest or the Canadian Cancer Society.
