Thursday, November 24, 1921 - Tuesday, September 30, 2008

ARMSTRONG; Mildred Florence Passed away peacefully, at her home, on Tuesday, September 30, 2008. MILDRED ARMSTRONG, of Petrolia, in her 87th year. Born on the family farm near Oil Springs, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Armstrong. Mildred worked as a homemaker at the Campbell farm on the Sixth Line of Enniskillen Twp. for 60 years, prior to moving to Petrolia. She was a life long member of Shiloh United Church and the U.C.W. Mildred is survived by her brother, Arthur (Mona) Armstrong of Petrolia, her sister, Vivian (Bruce) Cameron of Wyoming and her sister-in-law, Mary McDermott of Petrolia. Mildred was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel (1998) and Dennis (1998) Kerrigan and a brother, Max Armstrong (1998). Mildred will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Mildred loved to bake and we will all miss her apple pies, butter tarts, cookies and cupcakes. She also loved to crochet and has made several doilies, table clothes and afghans for her family, friends and charitable events. She also enjoyed singing with the Shiloh United Church Choir. Even though Mildred had no children of her own, she was a second mom to all of her nieces and nephews and “Aunt Grandma” to her great nieces and nephews. Mildred had a true love for life and will be most remembered for her willingness to help others, her smile and laugh that would brighten anyone’s day. Visitors will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia, where the funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Jessie Dobbyn officiating.
