Obituary and Life History
After a 15 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Patrick passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital, Petrolia with his family by his side.
Patrick was born in Borneo, Indonesia where his father was an oil driller. The family moved to Petrolia when he...
was 2 years old where he was raised and lived for the rest of his life. He will be greatly missed by his loving and caring wife Suzanne (celebrated 50th wedding anniversary February 3, 2012), by his five children Stephanie (Bob Sutton), Kelly (Dennis Sanson), Suzanne, Michael and Christopher (Sandra Leslie), his beautiful grandchildren who always put a smile on his face, Jenny, Kelsey, Milena, Lindsey, and Heather. Patrick was a loving brother to Mardie Anderson (predeceased), Bloss Sutherland (predeceased) and Norm Sutherland. Patrick is best known for being an Ontario Land Surveyor for over 30 years in Lambton County. He and dear friend Jack Monteith founded Monteith & Sutherland Land Surveyors in 1961 in Petrolia, joined by his brother Norm in later years. He had a passion for playing the game of golf and watching the game of hockey. In his retirement he took up woodworking, creating many beautiful pieces for family and friends which will always be cherished.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation to take place at Needham-Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 7 pm -9 pm. Memorial mass to be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 11am, St. Philip’s Parish, Petrolia. A reception will follow mass at St. Philip’s parish hall.
